Synopsis
故事发生在一座地处偏远的小镇之中，老侦探戴夫（汤米·李·琼斯TommyLeeJones饰）正在调查一起恶性凶杀案件，这位凶残的杀手在镇上着实引起了不小的恐慌。随着调查的深入，戴夫发现案情变得愈加扑朔迷离，一个名叫巴尔博尼（约翰·古德曼JohnGoodman饰）的男人浮出了水面，成为了戴夫的主要怀疑对象。小镇上来了一位电影明星，巧的是，他不是别人，正是戴夫的童年玩伴艾洛德（彼得·萨斯加德PeterSarsgaard饰）。一次酒后，艾洛德吐露了一个惊人的秘密，而这个秘密竟然和戴夫几十年前调查的一宗案件有关。渐渐的，戴夫发现自己和家人似乎被卷入了某个阴谋之中，真相究竟是什么？凶手又藏在何处？恪尽职守的戴夫决定追查到底。
