Synopsis
人过中年，居住在纽约的作曲家哈维·山恩（达斯汀·霍夫曼 Dustin Hoffman 饰）的人生却逐渐走下坡路。早年和妻子（Kathy Baker 饰）离婚，老婆带着女儿（Liane Balaban 饰）前往伦敦开始崭新的生活；一生辛苦打拼，却落得随时会被老板开除的下场 。在某个周末，哈维乘机赶往伦敦参加女儿的婚礼，却发现女儿的继父（James Brolin 饰）取代了自己的位置。更糟糕的事接踵而来，哈维错过了返程的飞机，也因此丢掉早已风雨飘摇的工作。徘徊流连于英国机场的哈维，无意中邂逅中年女子凯特·沃克（艾玛·汤姆森 Emma Thompson 饰）。凯特专于工作，情感道路颇为坎坷。两个天涯沦落人不期而遇，似乎一段崭新的故事就这样慢慢展开……
